For my first graphic, this one comes from the Washington post. This visualization shows dots marked on a map of the United States and for each dot there are 500 goats. The interactive elements contain a map is when you move the arrow on a particular map and for each county the arrow is on, will show how many goats are in that specific county. It engages with the audience in terms of knowing that there’s an abundant amount of goats in the U.S then usually expected. I don’t know if I would change anything about this since the design is straight forward and clear.

The next graphic is also on the Washington post and it focuses on a map of the coastlines of north and south America and displays what countries you are facing if you were at the shoreline facing the horizon. It gives the audience a visual of what country’s are next door from one another, which is kind of like Sarah Palin saying “I can see Russia from my house”… in a way. I guess one way I can Improve this site in terms of design would be to change the colors of the neighboring countries by continent, so the countries in each continent will represent one color in stead of multiple colors but then again different colors for different country can be unique and it gives the website a loud look.

Lastly is the a New York times post the focuses on HubCab which, by the collection of data, builds a living map of the movements of cabs all around the city. It also lets you see previous trip that were made in certain locations. It engages the audience and succeeds effectively by telling other the previous trips make from several different locations and can also count as social or dating outlet on account of sharing the same cab and heading to the same destination.  What I would change about the design would be to write the areas of certain places within a specific. For instance, writing “Bushwick” “Williamsburg “ and “Tribeca” to establish a more clear location of each borough.
