CHARTING CULTURE: 2000 YEARS OF CULTURAL HISTORY IN 5 MINUTES (nature.com)

Takes over 120,000 people who are well known or famous and shows where each person was born and died in different parts of the world using a map with graphics that use a red dot to symbolize when and where a person is born and a blue dot showing where they died, using a line to connect both dots. Captions are used to describe what they’re talking about, such as the rise of the Roman Empire or how trains connected the east and west coast of the U.S.

PI VISUALIZED AS A PUBLIC URBAN ART MURAL (tumblr.com)

The mural uses art as a way for students to connect with their community by focusing on math as their art. A reflective line graph, which looks like a sound wave, represents the number pi using different colors that represent each prime number and height. A wall and paint to show us pi in art. Students, staff, and an assistant principal from The Green School took part in the project, but apparently it wasn’t a voluntary thing for children in the community to participate in.

VISITS: MAPPING THE PLACES YOU HAVE VISITED (v.isits.in)

This interactive graphic keeps track of where a person has been by geotagging a person’s Flickr with Google Maps history. By combining maps with a timeline the person can clearly understand where they have been. A person can also adjust the slider so they can go from street level view to country level.
